The Blount Institute School of Music provides practical, accessible training in musicianship, theory, performance, and creative development. Courses are designed to help students build strong musical foundations, develop usable skills, and grow in confidence through both understanding and application.

Piano Foundations is an eight-week beginner piano course designed to build a practical foundation in keyboard technique, music reading, rhythm, melody, harmony, and chord-based accompaniment. Students learn both the theory behind the music and how to apply it at the piano each week. By the end of the course, students should be able to navigate the keyboard, read a simple treble-clef melody, understand basic note values, build foundational chords in C major, follow common chord-number movement, and perform a simplified song using block chords.
